Hear My Voice invites South African poets to a 4-day poetry retreat, calling for poets to explore the relationship between nature and the manifest in various art forms. This retreat, which will select two poets from the applications, will take place at the Cradle of Humankind from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 February. The deadline for submissions is 4 February 2022.
The retreat intends to provide a conducive environment for creative construct and clarity of thought. This retreat offers the chosen individuals the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and space to create. The two selected poets will join several established poets at the retreat, and the programme will include writing sessions, hikes, meditation and talks with industry peers.
“Coupled with creating platforms, ours is to facilitate fellowship and conversations amongst poets to expedite growth and quality in the work being produced” says Phomolo Sekamotho, Director at Hear My Voice.
The selected poets will also feature as part of this year's Valentine's Concert at the NIROX Sculpture Park, which is themed: Songs & Poems of Love, and during the retreat, they will work on a collaboration with musicians for this concert.
